Nancy Richmond is a Partner of Javerbaum Wurgaft Hicks Kahn Wikstrom & Sinins (formally Ceconi & Cheifetz, LLC) and has over 25 years of experience exclusively practicing family law. She is passionate about helping clients face the challenges they encounter during their life changing events and difficult times. Ms. Richmond was made Counsel in 2007 and Partner in 2018.

A Successful Litigator, Negotiator, and Arbitrator

Ms. Richmond has experience handling any type of family law case no matter how complex the issues may be. While being a fierce advocate, she is resolution oriented. She has successfully settled, tried, and arbitrated matters involving all aspects of family law including divorce, child custody and parenting time, equitable distribution, prenuptial agreements, relocation issues, adoptions, domestic violence as well as appellate practice.

A Court Appointed Parenting Coordinator

Ms. Richmond has been appointed by the Court as a Parenting Coordinator in order to assist parents to effectively co-parent and address parenting time disputes.

Ms. Richmond takes an individualized approach to each client. Her clients benefit from her concerted efforts to understand their specific needs and goals in order to creatively and cost-effectively resolve their matters, whether by settlement or trial. Nancy Richmond knows the importance of treating her clients with the utmost compassion, respect, patience, and loyalty in handling their matters from the beginning to the end. The individualized attention that Ms. Richmond provides to each client, her diligence, and attention to detail set her apart from other practitioners in the field.

A Lecturer and a Leader in the New Jersey Legal Community

She has lectured attorneys on various family law topics with the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and ATLA.

Nancy Richmond is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section and the Union and Essex County Bar Associations. She recently finished her four-year term on the District XII Fee Arbitration Committee, which included her serving as Vice Chair. Ms. Richmond has also served as the Essex County Bar Association representative to the Non-Dissolution Planning Committee.

She has served on the Amicus & Appellate Committee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Ms. Richmond also donates her time serving as an Early Settlement Panelist for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part in Union and Morris counties.

Nancy Richmond’s Industry Recognition

Nancy Richmond was named to the following: 10 Best Attorneys by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, Top Ranking Attorney by the American Association of Attorney Advocates and Top 10 Family Law Attorney by Best of the Best Attorneys.

Early on in her career, Ms. Richmond was recognized by New Jersey Monthly Magazine as one of the Top Young Lawyers in New Jersey by being named in the “Rising Stars” edition for the years 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Education and Mentor

In May of 2004, she successfully completed the 18th Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute, an intensive one-week program in Houston, Texas sponsored by the American Bar Association Family Law Section.

Ms. Richmond served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable John D’Amico, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part, Monmouth County.

Ms. Richmond received her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University and her undergraduate degree from Lafayette College with a B.A. in International Affairs with a concentration in Russian. While at the Dickinson School of Law, Ms. Richmond was a member of the Dickinson Journal of International Law for which she published an article, Israel’s Law of Return: Analysis of Its Evolution and Present Application.

When Nancy Richmond is not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
