Sheryl J. Seiden is a partner at Ceconi & Cheifetz, LLC in Summit, New Jersey. She is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey since December 1996 and the State of New York since June 1997. She graduated magna cum laude from New York Law School in 1996 where she served as the managing editor of the New York Law School Law Review. She received her B.A. in Justice from the American University in Washington D.C. in 1993 where she graduated cum laude.
Practicing Family Law and Divorce Mediation in New Jersey
Ms. Seiden has been practicing Family Law since January 2000. She has been a member of the NJSBA Family Law Executive Committee since 2008. She is a past Co-Chair of the Young Lawyer Subcommittee of the NJSBA Family Law Section. She also is a member of the Union County and Essex County Bar Associations. She previously was a member of the American Inns of Court. Ms Seiden has volunteered for Partners For Women and Justice and she has lectured for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education on family law issues. Ms. Seiden also wrote and presented a three part seminar series entitled “How to Take A Case Through The Court System” which she presented to young lawyers to educate and mentors them about family law practices and procedures. She has also lectured for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and Union County Bar Association. Ms Seiden serves as a Union County Early Settlement Panelist and as a mediator and has written an article on “How to Effectively Prepare a Case Information Statement”.
Ms. Seiden is accredited as a Family Law Mediator in New Jersey.
Ms. Seiden participated in the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Program in May 2006, an eight day intensive trial program geared toward honing the trial skills of family lawyers. Beginning in 2006, Ms. Seiden has been nominated as a:”Rising Star” by Super Lawyer every year since 2006.
Prior to joining Ceconi & Cheifetz, LLC, Ms. Seiden practiced matrimonial law for several years at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman, where she worked with Eleanor B. Alter, Esq. and Helene Brezinsky, Esq. in complex and high-profile matrimonial cases in both the states of New York and New Jersey. Ms. Seiden also acquired significant litigation experience at both Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker and Thacher Proffitt & Wood in New York City.
Ms. Seiden will be speaking at the New Jersey State Bar Conference in May on issues of Equitable Distribution.
